Black Velvet if you please

While browsing the fabric aisles at my local craft/sewing store, I came across several beautiful bolts of velvet fabric.

Velvet. Soft, smooth velvet.

So I decided that I needed some.

But yet, I do very limited sewing. Like really, really, basic stuff. And velvet doesn’t seem like the type of fabric that a beginner should be tampering with.

But it was soft. So, so soft.

And the colors! The black, navy, burgundy, emerald green, and shimmery pink! I wanted….no NEEDED them all!

So I bought them and rationalized that I’d figure out something to do with all of that velvety soft goodness.

And I did.

Inspired by the fall season, I decided to make velvet pumpkins. Black, navy, burgundy, emerald green, and shimmery pink velvet pumpkins. Not the traditional fall colors, but they were the colors that I was feeling (yay for designer’s choice!)

But what about the pumpkin stem you may be wondering? Oh, I had Kyle design and print me those on the 3d Printer (that machine is so handy). I then painted them either gold or silver, depending on my mood.

They were beautiful, and quite popular in the neighborhood, which is why I only got a picture of a few of them.

So if you are a novice seamstress like myself, don’t be scared to buy the velvet and give it a try.

And if you need the perfect pumpkin stem, we’ve got them in our Shop.
